I possess over 12 years of startup experience and 20 years of project management. My industry backgrounds include: internet, wireless communications management consulting, and investment banking.
Prior to setting up my own shop, I held the position of director of e-commerce for Flax art & design in the late 1990s (flaxart.com - they've scaled down since the late 2000s and are no longer an e-commerce site), where I was responsible for the development, launch, management, and successful operations of three multi-channel e-commerce sites. I was involved with all aspects of Flax’s e-commerce business, which included leading a cross-functional team of colleagues from marketing, web development, engineering, operations, and finance on various internal and external fronts. I also provided strategic and branding input during website design phases, developed and implemented Flax’s e-commerce strategy, served as content developer, built and managed an e-commerce team, and instituted numerous standards for the new business unit. I loved the startup experience and have been working with mostly entrepreneurs ever since.
Early in my career, I worked as an investment banker for a boutique NYC firm that financed biomedical / biotech and new media deals. Later, as a management consultant, I worked with clients Swedish and Danish Telecom on wireless projects that were implemented in Europe. I also spent over two years as a consultant in Cellular One’s Strategic Planning and Marketing department, managing various marketing research and product marketing projects.
